iStyle myStyle: New Hairdo + Weekend + Thanksgiving Sunday The African Way (07/04/2013)

Hi dearies,
I finally made my hair! So, bye Keke and Hello Kinky!! It took like 13 hours because I am extremely slow (explains why I never attempt making anyone’s hair) but I like the end product. I will blog about this in full details later on so watch out for the post on Protective Style: Chunky Twists.

After fixing my hair on Saturday my Loughborough Big Bro (Sola) informed me he was in town with Muyiwa and Riversongz assisting with the sound/technical side of things. It happened to be his birthday two days prior, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN SOLA! It was short notice but I knew I had to head to the Redeemed Church were the Talk and Worship Session was taking place and it was nice seeing him. I do cherish you and thank God for putting you in my life because there were moments in my life I needed a word to keep me going somehow Sola helped to remind me who God made me to be. God bless you.

In my church we always celebrate the first sunday of each month with lots of praises and dances. As I have mentioned in previous posts, in Nigerian culture (consciously or unconsciously) we tend to wear our traditional attires for thanksgiving. I decided to rock what I will term the ‘Casual Contemporary African’ look. The top I wore (which has a pencil skirt but I rocked it on this occasion with jeans) was made by a dear friend of mine 2 years ago (2011) and it happens to be her birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY OMOLOLA EMIRAYO OYEDELE!!

Our friendship has come a longggggg way, over 14 years and counting πŸ™‚ I basically sketched the design for the top and she made identical attires for us with her tailor in Nigeria. I am sure by now you know one of the ways to my heart is by giving me African attires lol, all things African and arty *sighs* it probably stems from the fact my mum studied art (African art). So, she’s things like making tie and dye textiles and sculptures. I do miss her a lot and hope she gets well soon. And yes, that is my beautiful mother below rocking her Nigerian kaftan.

I will stop talking and leave you to enjoy my sunday Outfit Of The Day. African textile top paired with white jeans, hope you like.

  1. Preyounce, did u add extensions? By the way, u look smashing! πŸ˜‰ Bro will be always happy on sighting u πŸ˜‰ . Answered prayers is all I see, God is in total control. I’m sure the some of the messages in church will be tittled, “How to grow hair like Sis. Preye” or “The beautiful African lady;Case study of Sis. Preye” Muah!

      • Hello I am so happy you followed my blog because that made me know about yours. Just had a brief skim through and I love it! On Thurs, I go to the hair salon (in Berlin) to trim my hair/ have a major chop because to make a long story not very long. I wanted to give my hairline a rest after over 10yrs of constant weaves and braids, but then leaving my hair out and natural, led to more of it falling of all round the sides and the back of my head. And this is my main problem now…I am using daily oils, swopped my cotton headscarf for a kind of silk one. I say kind of because its a head scarf from Finsbury Park that claims to be the right one. Anyhoo, I’ll end my book here!
